Our History
Madgack Labradors was founded in 2010. Our Kennel name was chosen for my Grandmother 'Madge' who first introduced me to showing and the name of our first black Labrador 'Jack'.
Our first Labrador was bought for me by my husband when we first moved in together and so began my love of the Labrador breed. Jack was a showbred boy who was just amazing and was the perfect company for our two young children growing up. He would frequently sleep with his head resting on their baby bouncer watching them sleeping.
We lost Jack in January 2010 and after much deliberation bought a chocolate Labrador puppy we named 'Baxter'.
I began showing Baxter and we also competed in Working Tests and Working Trials. Baxter attended Crufts 2011, 2012 and 2013 was placed third in the BASC working Dog class in 2013. Baxter, now in his old age enjoys food, cuddles and lying on the sofa.
In 2011 we welcomed 'Elsie' into our home. She was a black showbred bitch who was both shown and worked. She gained her Working Gundog Certificate competed in Working Tests, and Rally Obedience Competitions with good placings in both. She was only shown lightly, gained her studbook number and a RBCC. She was a gorgeous biddable girl who loved to please.
In 2016 Elsie had her first and only litter to Forest (Afinmore Alain JW ShCM). We bred a beautiful litter of 8 healthy puppies, one of which we kept here - the lovely Prudence. The litter did well in the showring with Sh Ch Madgack Mulberry Minocqua gaining his title in 2019 and our very own Prue gaining her third CC at Leeds Championship Show in 2023. Breeding two Show Champions in our very first litter was beyond our wildest dreams x
In 2020 Prue had a litter to the very handsome Envy (SH CH Naiken Elite Envoy (AI) JW; IrJunCh. 8 puppies were born, 3 blacks and 5 chocolates. We kept a chocolate bitch who we named Ursula Bear, after a children's book or 'Sula' for short. Sula has only been lightly shown and has been in the cards at almost every show she has attended so far. She also gained a second place in Graduate at Crufts 2023. We are very pleased with our bundle of chocolate nuttiness and love her very much.
We have recently bred a litter with Sula (Madgack Morella), to Sh Ch Lembas Maui. We have 12 gorgeous puppies who are doing well. We will be keeping a bitch from this litter to join our family x
